Watching football in a cinema is about to become a reality for Moroccan fans. Mégarama Morocco has announced a new initiative that will allow supporters to experience the FIFA World Cup 2026 on the big screen. From June 11 to July 19, selected matches from the tournament, including all of Morocco's fixtures and the entire knockout phase, will be broadcast live across several Mégarama locations nationwide. The project marks a first for the cinema operator and aims to transform movie theaters into gathering places for football fans during one of the world's biggest sporting events.
Speaking about the initiative, Jamal Mehyaoui, Communication Director at Mégarama Morocco, highlighted the company's ambition to recreate the atmosphere of a stadium inside its cinemas:
"We are committed to creating exceptional moments for supporters. Matches will be shown on giant screens with immersive sound, recreating the emotion and atmosphere of being in the stadium from the comfort of our cinemas."
As anticipation builds around Morocco's participation in the World Cup, Mégarama is offering an alternative viewing experience designed to recreate the atmosphere of a stadium while maintaining the comfort of a cinema.
A total of eleven group-stage matches will be screened, alongside every match involving the Atlas Lions. The coverage will then continue through the knockout rounds, culminating with the tournament's final.
The screenings will be available at Mégarama cinemas in Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, Fès, as well as the Mégarama complex located at Tanger City Mall.
The initiative also highlights the growing convergence between sports and entertainment. Around the world, cinemas have increasingly become venues for major live events, offering audiences an experience that combines communal viewing with premium audiovisual quality.
A key element of the project is Mégarama's partnership with beIN SPORTS. The cinema chain confirmed that it has officially acquired the broadcasting rights for the competition through the sports network, ensuring that all screenings will be presented through authorized channels.
Ticket prices have been set at 150 DH for adults and 100 DH for children under the age of 12.
For Moroccan supporters, the announcement arrives at a moment of tremendous excitement. Following the Atlas Lions' historic achievements on the world stage in recent years, enthusiasm surrounding the national team continues to reach new heights.
With giant screens, stadium-like emotions, and thousands of fans expected to gather throughout the competition, Mégarama's cinemas could become some of the country's most vibrant World Cup destinations this summer.
Whether in the stadium, at a fan zone, at home, or now inside a cinema, Moroccan supporters will once again come together to back the Atlas Lions as they take on the world's biggest stage.
Dima Maghrib.
