One of the most prestigious film events in Africa and the Arab world is gearing up for another edition. The Marrakech International Film Festival (FIFM) has announced the opening of submissions for its 23rd edition, scheduled to take place from November 20 to 28, 2026. As filmmakers worldwide prepare their latest projects, the festival is once again offering a platform for emerging talents and established voices to showcase their work before an international audience.
The call for entries is officially underway for the 23rd edition of the Marrakech International Film Festival, a landmark event that continues to attract some of the most exciting cinematic voices from across the globe.
According to the festival's eligibility criteria, feature-length fiction films, documentaries, animated films, and experimental works completed between November 2025 and November 2026 can now be submitted for consideration. Films must have a minimum runtime of 65 minutes, while short films are not eligible for selection.
The festival's prestigious competition section remains dedicated to international first and second feature films. To qualify, entries must be presented at least as a MENA premiere, with priority given to productions making their World Premiere. Meanwhile, the festival's non-competitive sections remain open to both emerging and established filmmakers, further reinforcing Marrakech's role as a showcase for diverse cinematic perspectives.
Submissions are completely free of charge and must be completed through the official online entry form before the July 31, 2026 deadline. All films must be submitted via streaming link, and projects in languages other than English or French must include subtitles in one of those two languages.
Over the years, the Marrakech International Film Festival has built a reputation as one of the region's most influential cultural events, bringing together filmmakers, producers, actors, industry professionals, and cinema enthusiasts from around the world. Its commitment to discovering new talent while celebrating international cinema has made it a key stop on the global festival circuit.
The official selection for the 2026 edition is expected to be announced in early November, ahead of what promises to be another memorable celebration of filmmaking in the heart of Marrakech.
For directors and producers looking to present their work on an internationally recognized stage, the road to Marrakech 2026 officially starts now.
