777YY releases “Zidou” feat. Abidat Rma, bringing together moroccan heritage and contemporary sound

At first glance, the collaboration may seem unexpected: a young Gen Z rapper and producer alongside a group deeply rooted in Moroccan musical heritage. Yet the meeting carries a particularly personal significance. Abidat Rma previously performed at the wedding of 777YM’s parents. Years later, their son is now releasing a record with the same group, with the accompanying music video returning to the very same family house where they once performed.

The result is a collaboration that extends beyond the meeting of two musical worlds, becoming a story about family, cultural memory and the relationship between generations.

“ZIDOU” also reflects a relationship with Moroccan culture that has been present throughout 777YM’s artistic evolution. He first emerged through raw rap and freestyles before gradually developing a more melodic sound through releases such as “Khalini Bouhdi,” “Mood” and “TTH.”

Alongside his work as a rapper, 777YM produces much of his own music, incorporating Moroccan instruments, Arabic references and elements of Moroccan popular culture into his productions. His previous work includes “Men Dar Ldar,” which samples the theme of the iconic Moroccan television series of the same name.

With “ZIDOU,” this relationship with Moroccan heritage takes another step forward.

Rather than simply sampling or referencing the past, 777YM collaborates directly with artists who are part of Morocco’s musical heritage, bringing their energy into a contemporary production alongside producer Nexo.

The title “ZIDOU”, meaning “give him more", reflects the ambition at the heart of the track: the desire for more success, more progress and more recognition.

The song captures the tension of an artist who can see his destination but has not yet reached it, the frustration, pressure, ambition and doubt that exist between where you are and where you want to be.

Against this internal tension, Abidat Rma bring a collective and uplifting energy, creating a contrast between 777YM’s personal ambition and the communal force associated with their music.

The accompanying music video develops the same idea through a dark, underground atmosphere where celebration and tension coexist, while the return to the family home adds another layer to the collaboration’s full-circle narrative.

With “ZIDOU,” 777YM continues to build an artistic identity rooted in both contemporary global influences and Moroccan culture, not as a recreation of the past, but as a way of imagining where that heritage can go next.
